In partnership with The Dalles Civic Auditorium, Arts in Education of the Gorge and the Columbia Center for the Arts (CCA) this summer The Dalles Art Center (TDAC) will be providing art camps for youth in grades 2nd-5th. We hope to engage and empower them through the arts so they may explore their natural creative gifts, learn new techniques, build confidence, and of course, have fun!
All supplies are provided. Scholarships are available to support your child's attendance!
Please bring your own snacks and lunch.
Safety and Precautions
Physical distancing will be implemented and State guidelines will be enforced. We are limiting our class size to 12 students. This ensures both the health of our participants and also a chance for our instructors to really engage with each student. Kids will be kept six feet apart each participant will have a private container for their materials. We have partnered with The Dalles Civic Auditorium to provide space to accommodate our safety measures. If youth or family are showing any signs of illness we will ask them to stay home. We will take the temperature of participants at the beginning of class and encourage masks.

Molly Holmlund
is an artist living in White Salmon, Washington. With nature as her muse, she collaborates with and incorporates natural materials every chance she gets, from making ink from plants and minerals she forages to simply observing the natural world. Molly enjoys sharing this love of nature and art as a way for kids to describe and learn about the world around them, and as a way to creatively problem-solve through art. Molly has done several murals around the Gorge, involving kids and community members if the project allows. Her natural ink paintings can be seen at the following venues. The Remains Gallery (Hood River), Arrowleaf Workshop (White Salmon), Tokki Art Supply (Hood River), etsy@ForagedInk, and ForagedInk.art
Tim Snyder
is a local musician and founder of Underground Music in Hood River Oregon. His teaching artist experience has placed him in every school in The Gorge and regionally around the state. Kids love learning to drum from Tim because his inner child is fully intact!

Participants will play and experiment with dozens of new materials to build their own wearable treasures, as well as collaborate to create a group artwork for the art center.
