Gorge Artists Create: Call for Entries!

Accepting Artwork for the Gorge Artists Create Annual Open Juried Show!

Rules:

-This is an open-theme, open-medium juried show. This show is very popular among local artists and is competitive. Though juried, we encourage artists of all levels to enter.

-Artwork must have been created within the last 2 years.

-All work must be ready to display. Hanging work must be ready-to-hang with a wire strung across the back of the frame. 3D work must be able to stand on its own or on one of our pedestals (or one provided by the artist). Alternative work, such as fiber arts or mixed-media must also be either ready-to-hang or ready-to-display. We cannot add hardware or otherwise configure art to make it display-ready for you. Installations or oversized pieces must be cleared by the director before entry.

-Entries will be accepted July 1-29th during regular gallery hours (Tue-Sat, 11-5). There is a $5 entry fee for each piece and a limit of 3 pieces per person. The entry fee does not guarantee the piece a place in the show. The show is juried and some pieces might not be admitted. The entry fee is non-refundable, regardless of art acceptance.

-There will be cash awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners as well as the People's Choice winner. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be announced at our opening reception. The People's Choice winner will be announced at the end of the show.

-The show runs from August 2nd-28th and the free, opening reception is on August 5th, 5-7. This reception will offer a great opportunity to meet fellow artists.

New Assistant Director

The Dalles Art Association would like to announce the addition of a new staff member. Jennifer Tenbrink has joined us as the new Assistant to the Director. Tenbrink is from New Mexico and earned her MA in English last year from Oklahoma State University.  She enjoys traveling, writing, photography, canoeing, and yoga. Her latest interest is paper-making. We look forward to working with Tenbrink!
